Louise Walker- Leeds Girls Can Project Lead

Lou walker

I have been part of the Leeds Development team for over 19 years. Starting out as a volunteer many, many years ago. Developing as a sports coach and fitness instructor to deliver within the community and schools enabled me to gain experience and knowledge to achieve a role as a Community Sports Officer. Over the past 10 years I have developed and led on a variety of different projects and initiatives. I have always had a passion for supporting women and girls from different areas of the city to find that one physical activity that they can enjoy. I see sport and physical activity as a catalysed to so many things such as meeting new likeminded friends, developing your skills, confidence and resilience. You will often see me at some of the ‘Leeds Girls Can' sessions and take overs, as I really enjoy meeting you all and finding out more about you. Another important part of my role within the Development team is to also support the LGBT+ community to get active.
