Compliance status
This website is not compliant with the
External link opens in new windowWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. The non-compliances are listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons. Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Colour contrast
Our website has many instances of insufficient colour contrast between the text and the background colour. For example on the homepage there is an orange button with white text, the text reads “Healthy At Home”. This has a contrast ratio of 2.34 and we must meet a minimum of 4.5:1. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 Contrast minimum (AA).
Multiple instances of the same ID
Each page of our website has multiple elements with the same ID value. A singular webpage may contain one ID per element but the value for each ID must be unique. Some of the ID values specified multiple times on a page is:
- “DataProvider” which effects most pages
- “timetablesearch” and “loading” on the leisure centre pages
- “tooltip” which effects all accordions on the First aid training page
This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (A) and 4.1.1 parsing (A).
Links with no text
There are many instances of links with no text inside them on our website. For example on the homepage just after the second block of links is a link that has no text inside it and on the leisure centre pages the image slider has links with no text inside them. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (A) and 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (A).
Form elements with no labels
The distance selector on the Find a centre page and Find a course or qualification has no associated label or text that describes what the user should do to assistive technology users. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (A) and 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (A).
On the Find a centre and leisure centre pages when viewing the map there are buttons and images with no text available to screen reader users. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 Non-text content (A).
Tabs
On the leisure centre pages is a row of tabs to help users find out contact details, timetables, court and pitch hire and facilities and opening times. We have included the ARIA role “tablist” on the container but haven’t marked each option up as a tab. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (A).
Images with no alternative text
On the Memberships page is an image that describes changes being made to memberships and on the About us page is an image which describes our values. These image has no accessible text and the information is not available in another format. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 Non-text content (A).
Disproportionate burden
Not applicable.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
Not applicable.
