Who We Are

Positive Futures is a national, sport-based social inclusion programme for children and young people aged 10-19/25, offering opportunities to engage in employment, education and training commissioned by the West Yorkshire Police and crime commissioner.

 

 

About UsAbout Us<div class="ExternalClassC7FA692FD52D4D789A8EBA07051E3554"><b>About Us:</b> <p>The positive futures programme addresses anti-social behaviour and youth crime, and contributes directly to making Leeds a safer place by:</p><p>•Reducing anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Leeds.</p><p>•Supporting local communities to tackle anti-social behaviour through engagement and diversionary activities.</p><p>•Addressing the risk factors and strengthening the protective factors to enable young people to choose leadership and positive community action instead of crime.</p><p>•Reducing crime and, by preventing re-offending, decreasing demand for front-line criminal justice services for young people.</p><p>•Make Leeds Young people and community safer and feel safer.</p><p>•Engage and empower Leeds young people.</p><p>The Positive Futures programme engages children and young people in 1:1 and group activities, including gym, swimming, fitness, boxing, football and other physical activity. The programme also has access to other wrap around services such as substance misuse support and alternative training/education for those children and young people not currently engaged in education, employment or training (NEET- Not in education, Employment and Training).</p> <br></div>
TransitionTransition<div class="ExternalClass4D8CFEBF43204B43A1D21C21DA493A06"><p>​Attending a new school can be confusing, difficult time for some children. Our <strong>Transition </strong>programmes offers the chance for soon-to-be year 7's to meet their peers and make new friends in a relaxed atmosphere. It also allows them to potentially meet their future teachers or school police officers; and get used to the layout of their new school without the pressure of being late for class.<br></p><p>The programme consisits of; activities, sports (delivered by qualified coaches) and PSHE workshops (via the Children and Young People Support and Prevention service). This is to help alleviate some of the worries children and young people may have and help them to grow in confidence.<br></p><p><strong></strong><strong>The Transition programme aims to:</strong><br></p><ul><li>Increase confidence in attending a new school.<br></li><li>Discuss and alleviate worries and concerns.<br></li><li>Help the young people make new friends.<br></li></ul></div>

Inspirations ProjectInspirations Project<div class="ExternalClassF84FACBBBCCC41EBAD847D98DDF053DD"> <b>Inspirations Project:</b><br></div><div class="ExternalClassF84FACBBBCCC41EBAD847D98DDF053DD"> <br> <p>The <b>Inspirations Programme</b> provides vulnerable children and young people with the opportunities to devleop their soft skills and to learn a variety of different techniques and strategies to overcome challenges in their lives.</p> <br> </div><p>The referred children and young people will attend the programme for a 1 day a week for a term. They will travel to different venues across the city, along with a member of school staff.</p><p>Throughout the programme they will take part in a range of activities delivered by qualified coaches, as well as taking part in Personal, Social, Healthy and Economic Education (PHSE) and Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) workshops via the Children and Young People Support and Prevention Service.<br></p><p><b> Inspirations aim to:</b></p> <ul><li>Raise confidence.<br></li><li>Raise self-esteem.<br></li><li>Create a positive relationship between pupils.<br></li><li>Girls only programmes.<br></li></ul> <p></p>
MentoringMentoring<div class="ExternalClassDB235558089840A39F9E40CAB24F876C"><p>To provide a <strong>Mentoring </strong>service for children and young people to create a positive relationship on a one to one basic or groups work to advice, assist, support and motivate young people to develop their soft skills and broaden their perspectives.<br></p><p><strong>Mentoring programme aim to:</strong><br></p><ul><li>Create friendship and trust.<br></li><li>Create achievable and sustainable personla goals.<br></li><li>Attend regular support and supervision sessions.<br></li><li>All sessions are strictly confidential.<br></li></ul></div>
Fit and FedFit and Fed<div class="ExternalClass54D850F9550049D99171B5FB3E027A0D"><p><b>Fit and Fed …because poor children endure holiday hunger, isolation, and inactivity.</b></p><p>The Fit and Fed campaign provides families in poor neighbourhoods with free holiday activity sessions and meals.</p><p>School holidays are supposed to be a fun time of the year, but for a generation of children from low income families it isn’t. Children are isolated because there is no free activity programmes on offer, and they are at risk of going hungry because there are no free school meals.</p><p>This campaign is aimed at engaging children and young people whilst providing nutritious food and days of physical activity during the holidays.<br></p> <b><p> Fit & Fed aims to:</p></b> <p> • Improve relationship with other participants.<br></p><p> • Understand the importance of eating regular meals.<br></p><p> • Reduce isolation.<br></p> </div>

What is Kickstart?

Kick Start is an intensive four week programme that will provide you with the tools to get into employment, education or training. If you like to be active, be part of a team, and are looking to find a direction, then Kick Start is for you!

  • Accredited Workskills qualification to enable you to kick start your career
  • First aid and mental health first aid qualifications
  • One-to-one support for up to six months Careers advice and guidance
  • Take part in adventurous outdoor activities and sports
  • Meet like-minded people and be a part of team
  • Lunch and travel included everyday

When does Kick Start launch?
