The John Charles Centre for Sport Tennis centre offers a diverse junior programme that caters for all ages and abilities, from Mini Tennis to full ball players.
The tennis lesson programme runs for 42 weeks per year and payment is by monthly direct debit. We also deliver tennis camps, fun and competitive tennis competitions and tennis birthday parties.
- Mini Tennis Red
Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. it is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It's just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
- Mini Tennis Orange
Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis red and is for players aged 9. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts. This allows players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.
- Mini Tennis Green
Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange and is for players aged 10. It is played on a full-size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It's the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full-sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.
- Junior Squad Tennis
Junior Squad sessions are for players aged 11 to 18. These sessions are played on a full-sized court with full compression yellow balls. There are 1 or 2 hour sessions. Players are grouped according to ability so we can cater for all abilities.
- Junior Wheelchair Tennis
Wheelchair Tennis sessions aimed at New/Beginner and intermediate players. Experienced LTA qualified coaches with wheelchair coaching experience on hand to teach you the game. Sports wheelchairs are aviaalble or you can ring your own.
- Junior Learning Disability Tennis
Tennis sessions with a learning disability. Experienced LTA qualified coaches with learning disability experience on hand to teach you the game. This is a mixed session with adults.

-Adult Beginners
Adult Tennis lessons for those who are new to tennis or for those who haven't played for a long time. These lessons provide a fun introduction to tennis and will get players serving, rallying and scoring from the first session. You will learn basic tactics and technique.
-Adult Improvers
Adult Tennis lessons for those who have played before and want to improve their game. Each session will aim to improve the player's tactics in singles and doubles.
-Leeds Girls Can Tennis
Leeds Girls Can Tennis sessions offer women of all abilities the chance to improve their game, with a mixture of skills training and match play. Each week's session focuses on a different area of the game and is tactically themed. This session is pay and play.
-Social Tennis
Social Tennis is a great way to get on court to play. All social sessions run on the indoor court at the John Charles Tennis Centre so play is guranteed all year round. Sessions cater for all age groups. Players should be able to comfortably serve, rally and score. A coach is on for all age groups. Players should be able to comfortably serve, rally and score. A coach is on hand to organise. Equipment provided if neccessary. No need to book just turn up and play.

John Charles Centre for Sport's Tennis Centre have the very latest selection of tennis balls, rackets and equipment. You can also have your tennis racket restrung at the centre. All rackets are restrung on site with our electronic stringing machine by our team of trained stringers.

The John Charles Centre for Sport Tennis centre hosts tournaments and match plays all year round for all ages and abilities.
Junior Rating Events
LTA grade 6 Junior Ratings events for players aged between 11 and 18 years old. These events give players tow matches against opponents of the same LTA rating and as similar age as possible. All events run 4pm to 8pm.
Enter online for our winter tournaments via the LTA website. All players must have a British Tennis membership. Enty fee to be paid on the day of the competition.
Adult Competitors
John Charles Tennis Centre runs one-day LTA winter county tour events on weekends. You can enter via the LTA website.
