Health Conditions Support Services

Active Leeds support various local partners and organisations that support people to live with health conditions. These include educational programmes, peer support groups and activity classes delivered to help people manage their health condition.

Active Leeds is supported by the Richmond Group which consists of 15 national charities that support people to manage their health condition. Active Leeds is funded through Sport England to locally activate the, “We are Undefeatable” campaign and provide support to local groups in become physically active, supporting people to use physical activity to manage their health conditions. While most of the service mentioned provide structured activity programmes, remembers the following;

  • Rest isn’t best
  • Some activity is better than no activity
  • You will have good days and bad days, make best of the good and don’t be hard on yourself for a bad day.
  • Be active your way
  • Do something you enjoy
  • If possible, find someone to be active with
  • Activities such as cleaning, vacuuming, gardening, walking and climbing stairs all count.
  • Help with becoming active is available through Active Leeds and the partners mentioned.

    Cardiac Rehabilitation / Heart DiseaseCardiac Rehabilitation / Heart Disease<div class="ExternalClass8E7D03FB40824286B68ABB2E8C067FAA"><p>-Leeds Community Healthcare – Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme.</p><p>Cardiac Rehabilitation is provide in Leeds by Leeds Community Healthcare in partnership with Active Leeds. There are 5 leisure centres across the city that deliver a clinical structured exercise and educational programmes. These last for 6 to 8 weeks and are people that have recently had a cardiac episode or surgery. </p><p>-Active Leeds Keep Moving</p><p>This is a structured physical activity programme for people with health conditions. The programme is prefect for beginners and delivered in Active Leeds leisure centres. The Health and Wellbeing Coaches are qualified to support people with multiple health conditions and have experience of supporting various rehabilitation programmes across the city.
